Soooo, where is that HL:A VR environments Valve?!

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 07:15 PM PST

As the title states Valve mentioned we would get goodies for having Half-Life Alyx and owning a Valve Index which includes being able to explored HL:A environments in our Steam VR home beginning in early 2020 and here we are February 1st and we have not heard anything? I mean if the game is truly releasing in March i would think it would be a great time to let us have this perk and yet nothing. Anyone else heard anything or just thinking the same thing as me?

Black Mesa - Classical 1999 Cover

Another one, just because... Why not? this way it will fit with custom old style covers.

    v1

    v2

I will, probably on the near future do some others 4 HL2 with this more classical style.

*PS: Awesome welcome of the alyx one suddenly, I did not expect that! thx

    Blue Shift was amazing!

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 09:29 AM PST

So now that there is this play Half-Life games for free thing until Alyx comes out, I started playing Blue Shift. I bought Half-Life back in like 2016 and I really liked it. I have like 35h played. I always thought about getting the DLC, but never got around to doing so until now.

Playing Blue Shift was super cool. The way it starts before the Resonance Cascade with you just going to work is great. The first couple of minutes are similar to Chernobyl (HBO show) where the people inside Black Mesa don't really know whats going on other than the fact that something horrible went wrong.

When you start to escape through the tunnels and these old corners of Black Mesa that are no longer in use you start to think about all of the stuff that is down here and when was this built etc. It's cool and it keeps getting better. Gearbox really nailed the atmosphere and design of these maps and the story was really interesting. It was long enough to not make me sick of it. It was the perfect length. Trying to escape the military in this huge complex facility with all of it's secrets and abandoned hallways and tunnels you really get sucked into the environment.

The objective is simple and clear and the way you solve these problems you come across the way rewards thinking and doesn't require too much effort to understand. I felt the Xen part was the worst the DLC had to offer. Everything else was super good and I really liked the ending and after playing Half Life 2 it connects the dots better. I can't wait to play Opposing Force and I honestly wish Gearbox was this good now a days

is the original half life hard or am i just terrible?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 04:29 PM PST

i decided to play through all the half life's, and i'm finding it really hard and frustrating. I'm playing on hard difficulty because i always like to challenge myself. but i'm just dying so quickly and the random enemy spawns out of nowhere are getting on my nerves. I've seen people say that it's a cake walk and they can beat it blind so am i just really bad at the game or is it genuinely just hard.

    HL:A - Release Date?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 11:17 AM PST

So HL:A is due next month as we all know. Are there any sort of indications as to when the actual release date will be revealed? Some of us have annual leave to think about!

There doesn't seem to be any information as to when Valve plan on announcing the date. It's a little odd considering how close we are getting.

The consensus was that we would get more information once the Christmas holiday season had settled down. It's well behind us at this stage. Announcement imminent we hope?
