TIL when you emerge from the pipe and the Valve theme plays in game, the scene looks like the Black Mesa logo. (HL1-HL:S-Black Mesa) Was this intentional or a huge coincidence?

Have you guys thought about the true weight Valve is putting on HL: Alyx?

    Posted: 21 Feb 2020 04:03 PM PST

Obviously they wouldn't be destroyed if it flopped, they still have steam. But they're basically putting out a game that people have been waiting for for around a decade, on a medium that not everyone has and that is also still in its infant stage. VR has had cool games but no big, story-centered exclusives so by making the first, Valve is essentially in control of how VR will be in the future. If Alyx flops, investors everywhere won't be interested in big VR titles anymore but if it succeeds then VR will probably see a renaissance era of incredible and passionate games as well as people wanting to put more money towards VR, which could develop more cost-efficient technology allowing VR to be accessed by a greater audience. VR might survive if Alyx weren't to do well, but theres no doubt Alyx will certainly influence the future of the medium.

Can Half Life Alyx be gifted if bundled with Index?

    Posted: 21 Feb 2020 07:44 PM PST

My father bought me a valve index on his steam account for xmas without thinking that the game could potentially be linked to his account. Is the game going to be giftable when it comes out next month?
