Hello. We might have found something interesting within Half-Life: Alyx

In the first level of the game, and in the chapter Northern Star, there is a radio. If you select channel 6 on this radio, you will hear a synth voice reading up AlphaNumeric combinations. On first glance these combinations seem to be random. We tried to transcribe what was being said, and ended up looking through the game files. Each letter and number has its own audio file! We found out that some of the audio files, just called "terminator_synthy_xx", were reversed. If you reverse those audio files in an audio editing application you get a voice saying these characters.

    Filename Transcription
    radio_number_station_terminator_synthy_01.mp3 SW TX UY
    radio_number_station_terminator_synthy_02.mp3 SPTQU
    radio_number_station_terminator_synthy_03.mp3 XYZ
    radio_number_station_terminator_synthy_04.mp3 OL PM QN
    radio_number_station_terminator_synthy_05.mp3 KH LI MJ NK
    radio_number_station_terminator_synthy_06.mp3 H I F JK
    radio_number_station_terminator_synthy_07.mp3 D EA FB C

As for the combinations of letters and numbers, some of they seem random. HOWEVER, Valve has made three fixed combinations which are

    A14, D7 and V4

These combinations are dubbed as secret numbers within the game's soundevents script file.

We have no idea what they mean, but it would be weird if this was random. Why has Valve made the radio station generate random combinations of characters, but still have specifically three fixed ones called "secret", and also combine these with files played in reverse, that spells out a series of characters when played the right way?

Would love to hear if anyone has any ideas.
