[Unfinished SFM] Medical experts of r/HalfLife! I need your help! Is this an accurate depiction of the symptoms of shock? After being administered Epinephrine, how long would it take Gordon to compose himself?

So just what are the mechanics of Xen?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 05:23 PM PDT

Yeah, I know it's another dimension and it's easy to just assume the laws of physics are different, but I'm not really satisfied with that answer, considering Gordon can survive there (without a helmet no less) and the Vortigaunts don't seem to have any trouble living on Earth in HL2.

I wonder if anyone has legit (non-handwave) serious theories about how Xen works. Some specific questions and observations:

-Why do the islands float but there's a clear direction of gravity?

-Where does the breathable air come from?

-One of the original skyboxes appears to have a sun that appears to be reflected over the "horizon."

-Breen gives that short speech in HL2: "worlds stretched thin across the membrane where dimensions intersect". Could Xen be a planet somehow "stretched" in higher dimensions?

One simpler theory that just occurred to me: the air, islands, and gravity were all held together by the Nihilanth and it all collapsed after he died.

I loved Half-Life: Alyx so much, I had to write some music inspired by it

I just released my track Xen Architecture

I had a lot of fun with this one. I just love Mike Morasky's style so much. If you like it, please comment and share! I hope someday to be able to write music for videogames! Thanks for listening!

(OC) A drawing of Gordon I did. All critique is appreciated!

The story of Half-Life: Alyx kinda shows that Valve doesn’t think of Opposing Force as part of the main story.

If Gman needed a capable replacement of Gordon, then why didn't he just pick Adrian? He could have avoided the trouble of being captured by the combine and then having to be saved by Alyx if he had just chosen Adrian. I think this point kinda shows Valves feelings towards the canonicity (if that's the right word) of Opposing Force.

How do you think the Combine handle more powerful and resilient dimensions?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 07:42 PM PDT

Given that the primary goal of the Universal Union is to essentially annex the entire multiverse, it's only fair to assume that they're gonna run into some universes that will give them hefty opposition. For example, the world in the Overlord anime; it has a guild of ridiculously powerful inhuman characters who are more or less gods. Then there's the Halo universe, where the Flood are on a threat level on par with the G-Man himself. Could the Combine just brute force their way to victory in these cases?
