    Spoilers of course, please forgive me if this has been said already,

    So young Alyx screams "Take me home, I wanna go home!" She believes the gman is going to take her away. To that the gman responds "I'm afraid you misunderstand the situation". What he means is that young Alyx IS going back home, maybe with a wiped memory. He's only going to take older Alyx

    This way you would not need parallel timelines, which sound cheap to me, and it would be a good in character way of leaving the cliffhanger open, the gman giving a nonchalant, vague response with double meanings to a desperate plea

    Anyway that's it, again, sorry if this angle has been talked about already, I've just never seen it.

    there's been some pretty dang low effort posts lately

    i love good shitposts. i love fan art with decent effort put into it. i love discussion about the game and its universe. sometimes though i just think "is it really worth following this sub?"

    some examples of what i mean:

    - posting the cover art for the game unmodified saying "just started playing hope it's as good as they say". that's it, that's the whole post

    - hl2 screenshot where the headcrab's shadow is distanced from its model. mmm very interesting

    - a guy spent probably 1 full minute on a toddler-esque drawing of a very fat headcrab

    - a guy spent a full 10 minutes complaining about low effort posts on the wait a minute

    - a post with a title mock-advertising the manhack arcade that only shows an unmodified screenshot from the leaked beta. very (interesting? / funny? / cool?) beats me

    - buncha posts showing something like almost somewhat looks like a combine mask and saying "look everyone it's the combine"

    - just some really really low effort stuff and shitposts that in my opinion aren't funny at all (look guys it's obama in breen's office i can't believe it actual obama in the citadel is this real?). remember that the more you shitpost, the less funny the shitposts will be

    - things that don't warrant any sort of discussion at all. if it's a shitpost, is it at least even worth more than a few comments being posted about it? comments like "lol" or "lmao" or even "lmfao" aren't really indicative of a post worth taking up brain power as i scroll through my reddit feed

    anyway i'll get off my high horse now and go take a piss and contemplate my life cuz this took longer and more effort to write than simply ignoring low effort posts

    I have bought into the theory that the G-Man traveled back in time, got captured, and thus set up the events of HLA to prove Alyx's worth to his employers. With this, the events with the vault seemingly do not take place in the original course of events between HL1 and HL2.

    My question is, could the events of the Vault retroactively occur this way without somehow altering the events of HL2 and its subsequent episodes so that the post-credits scene of HLA can still happen?
