    So I've been thinking about this lately and here's how I think would happen:

    Since Gordon would never teleport to the Citadel, the Combine wouldn't be aware of him. Also since he would go directly to BME, Route Kanal and Water Hazard would never exist. And since those chapters wouldn't exist and BME would have never been bombarded by the Combine.

    Gordon would never go to Ravenholm and Eli would have never been captured (I'll get back to this in a sec). In BME Eli says "we'll get you out of that Hazard suit and put you back to your labcoat" or something like that. So now Gordon would work at BME and would never go and destroy Nova Prospekt. Meaning that the Uprising would never start and Judith wouldn't be exposed as a spy. Meaning that humans would probably never overthrow the combine.

    So what I'm saying is, Lamarr is actually a mastermind and is responsible for the re-birth of humanity

    Ok, so half life 2 came out before i was born, and it's supposedly one of the best games ever made. I have finally gotten access to a pc that can actually run games made after the 90s, and I am thinking about getting the game. I have played the demo, and really like the atmosphere, but the gunplay seems a bit meh. Is it worth a buy, should I play with any mods, and should I get the game this week, or wait another week and buy the orange box? Edit: forgot to mention I haven't play the original half life, if it's worth playing, is the black Mesa mod any god? Not the standalone game.

    Not sure if anyone's spotted this before but it just occurred to me...

    Our first (?) encounter with any Advisors in this game is the dead ones you find in the train that you derail.

    And why did you derail the train? To save Eli.

    Alyx killed the Advisors to save Eli.

    Which is exactly what she does at the end.

    OK that's it. Maybe not a gigantic revelation, maybe not even an intentional thing on the part of the writers, but I thought it created a nice narrative echo nonetheless.
