    Game Features & Fixes

    • Added option to turn off Valve Index pre-order weapon skins to the Preferences menu.
    • Fixed wine bottle labels that had been regressed by the liquids update, and fixed several issues with the liquid shader.
    • Fixed an issue that could result in corrupt save games.
    • Numerous crash fixes.

    Workshop Features

    • Added hl_vr_weapon_generic_pistol, a data-driven weapon entity for workshop customization.
    • Included sources to many of Half-Life: Alyx's AnimGraphs as example content, plus usability improvements to the AnimGraph editor.
    • Added simple example addon for audio content, plus audio workflow improvements and fixes.
    • Added example materials and subrect files demonstrating use of more complex shaders and dynamic expressions.
    • Added support point, directional, spot and ortho lights to Source Filmmaker.
    • Added "Show Intro" toggle to hacking plugs (allows placing hacking plugs that do not play a hologram intro animation).
    • Reduced memory usage for compiling maps (32GB RAM is recommended).

    Workshop Fixes

    • Fixed a bug which was causing transitions between Valve maps to disable any loaded addons, and level transitions to not work at all for addon-to-addon transitions.
    • Fixed bug where map extensions could spawn multiple times (or not at all) when multiple addons were active.
    • Fixes and clarifications added to hacking_example map.
    • Fixed a crash in maps with a very large numbers of handposes.
    • Fixed shadow artifacts with Source Filmmaker's projected lights.

    You know, the Black Mesa/Aperture rivalry is pretty funny if...

    ...you consider that Black Mesa probably doesn't even recognize Aperture. BM is a massive, government-funded institution that has too many things to worry about before some millionaire mad scientist performing experiments in an old cave. The "rivalry" depicted in Portal is almost certainly completely in Cave Johnson's head.

    As the title says, I finished HL:A without VR and it's not that good. I used a mod called Half-Life: Alyx no vr mod, it isn't like the pancake vr mod, this one lets you play with Alyx's weapons and tries to simulate VR. It's pretty weird at first, but I got used to it. And now that I finished the game all I can say is that it's not worth the effort.

    To clarify: I know that the game loses all the fun if I don't play it in VR, I just can't afford a VR headset and wanted to play with the new Hammer editor and SFM.

    Creatures like the Nihilanth (Not Man) and ichthyosaur (reptile fish) have names with parts coming from greek or latin that discribe how it looks, acts, or used to give it a cool title. This is commonly used to make names for real life creatures. So what are some greek and Latin root names you can come up for other halflife creatures.

    Was gordans survival in the first game due to destiny, luck, or his dedication to live it out?

    Compared to many other video game protagonist, gordan isnt all that special. For example, link is literally destined to be the hero. He has the spirit of a hero ffs. Doom guy is specially trained and is well equipped to do his job. Gordan, literally is just a regular guy.

    In the first game it appears that he has no purpose other than to survive for his own sake. He necessarily has nobody to worry about but himself, nobody really depends on him. Hes just there trying to get the fuck out like everybody else.

    But then the second game comes and all of a sudden he is the hero of the story. He doesnt do what he does to survive, he does it because he feels the need to help everyone and save the world like a typical hero. I havent finished the first game but from what i know, the gman was impressed with gordans ability to survive against all odds.

    But, was it really gordans will to survive that got him through half life one? I mean, gman could have tipped things in gordans favor, i mean he has been watching him. I mean i just find it hard to believe that a regular ordinary scientist was able to take out the military and damn near a whole alien species. Most people would probably shit there pants and cry to their mommies.

    So what do you guys think it is? Was freeman just destined to survive or is he an honest example of someone with dedication to survive?

    Hey I just finished hl:alyx a few days ago and it seemed that there would finally be a conclusion in the Half life franchise. I also thought who would be the antagonist of the final game(half life 3). Would it be gman, a combine advisor or something that's power is incomprehensible? I wanna hear what you guys think?
