    Why HL3 won’t be in VR

    As most of you know, Half-Life has been a series that has always been the butter to the bread of video games, since the combination of Half life and VR brings many possibilities;but many limitations, what I mean to say is Alyx has a very different approach to story telling and has a reason why. Alyx is a VR game and as such has many new mechanics, like climbing ladders manually, healing has a process, the picking up of objects, the Russels, the Alyx and etc.

    While having half life 3 in vr would change the gameplay elements of older games, Alyx used to have fast headcrabs and poison zombies, but were cut due to being to overwhelming, now Alyx has 3 weapons a standard 1911, a shotgun and a early version of the ar2. These 3 weapons can be customized throughout the game and always feel solid when you shoot, now compare that to Gordon's arsenal, A crowbar, the gravity gun, a pistol, a smg, a AR2, a crossbow, grenades, and a RPG. 8 weapons total, valve has always done a majority of playtesting with pretty much every singe player game they've ever made, having so many weapons to choose from could make the player feel overwhelmed, combined with the fact of Half-life 2s fast paced gameplay could induce motion sickness with it, or players would have to use a touchpad or thumb stick to enable or disable sprinting, many possibilities could lead to the player to be burned out or tired during the gameplay.

    Now you could just say well what if they just removed some of the weapons? They could but that would be tedious and hard to choose which weapons to keep and which to get rid of since all weapons serve a purpose, if they do happen to remove weapons for vr the only 2 essentials would probably be the gravity gun and the crowbar since they are the most iconic and useful. VR is perfect for half life! Why not continue with it? I do agree that vr is perfect for half life alyx, the gameplay with hl3 wouldn't involve the russels and would mean you would either have to use the gravity gun by switching your weapon or go up to the object to pick it up. Very tedious and doesn't fit Gordon, Alyx works because of the combination of the russels, 3 solid weapons and interactibility. Why do you think it will be keyboard and mouse and not vr? People have waited so long for this game that it wouldn't be fair if they had to pay at least 440 dollars for a vr headset and a extra 60 just to watch the conclusion of one of the best games ever made in the history of all gaming. So no, I don't believe that it will be in vr, if it IS in vr then they will have to find out a way to deal with the reasons above.

    Is there any info if the new Xbox or PS5 will have VR that supports half life Alyx?

    I've really enjoyed half life alyx as it was a half life game that wasn't another play through. It was all new and amazing. The end made me happy because I knew eli wasn't going to be killed off at the end of episode 2 and I've been saying it since about 2008. I hope the reactions to half life alyx will make staff at valve more confident and want to work on half life more. I don't think half life 3 will be vr, it might be made for both but I'm 99.9% sure it will be made for non vr as well because of the half life series. I do recon in time there might be another half life alyx that will be vr only again. It was nice seeing the end of episode 2 in half life alyx looking all fresh and updated. There was moments in half life alyx that you couldn't of experienced in non vr which I'd remember. Valve has made a truly awesome vr game and to top it off, it was part of the half life story line. Anyways I just had to share this as I avoided half life reddit and Facebook pages because of HLA spoilers. I'm glad I managed to avoid them and experience it myself. Let's hope we'd here something soon about what is being worked on next. I'm sure it's going to carry on from episode 2, no idea if it'll be called half life 3 or just a short episode 3 to pull us back in again.
