I found this a little while ago and can’t find a definitive price for it. Majority of the box arts for Half Life 2 are of gordon freeman and I can only find 2 listings with vastly different pricing. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated

Just a reminder how memorable was the bathroom in Half Life. Sometimes I would install the game just to hang around the facility and the bathroom.

    Half Life 3 Continuity Thesis

I suppose nobody will really care about this, but I have a lot of free time on my hands and this occupies a lot of my mind right now so why not post it on Reddit, right?

I'm going to try and explain how I understood the Half Life Alyx ending and how it might affect the future, and possibly the past (going to be a recurring theme).

There are 4 important actors in all this.Gordon Freeman, the G-Man,and Alyx and Eli Vance. They are the ones that have impacted and will impact the events.I will be moving through a lot of events so I want to define 3 important moments-the HL Alyx ending (from now on called "Ending A"),next the Episode 2 ending (now called "Ending 2")and lastly the new Episode 2 ending as depicted in HL Alyx (called "Ending Final").

As of the furthest point of the story that we know of (Ending Final),the G-Man is holding all cards. Thanks to his powers he usually has the advantage, but this time it's because he is directly responsible for the state of things in Ending Final.

G-Man is powerful, but not all powerful. That's why he was held captive by the combine in the Vault, that's why he gets interrupted by the Vortigauns and that's why he hires people like Gordon and Alyx.He has to abide by certain rules and his hires are what enables him to enact his plans. He watches them and other people he could hire and changes events,or rather makes them happen in a certain way to manipulate his employees/possible employees.

And now to explain how Eli Vance ties into the scheme. He first heard the words "unforeseen consequences" from the G-Man in Black Mesa before the famous experiment took place. He believes he should have stopped the experience and expresses his regret that he didn't do so in Episode 2.The next "unforeseen consequences" uttered by Alyx in Episode 2 are hinting at future events, most likely the Borealis.Klein and Eli argue about whether to utilize the Borealis (Klein) or destroy it (Eli). In Ending 2 before you enter the helicopter hangar,Eli tells Gordon to destroy the Borealis. And I presume this would pose a problem to the G-Man.Gordon does as he is told and he is close friends with Eli.That's why we see him get replaced in Ending A with Alyx,he became corrupted,an employee the G-Man can't trust. That's why Gordon gets fired and Alyx gets hired.

And now to the whole time and Eli's death thing. The G-Man is a being that exists outside of time. His past self is identical to his future self. That's why knows what happens in the future when Alyx find him at the Vault. He knows all the things the G-Man at the time of Ending 2 knows.By letting Alyx save her dad he employs her and thus replaces Gordon as his operative, bringing us to Ending Final where the G-Man has his reliable operative safely in stasis. Time suspension happens in the ending of Half Life 1,2,and now Alyx (I'm not counting opposing force because I don't think it's relevant). The employee is suspended and prepared to be used when the need arises. So we know that Alyx will be the G-Mans operative following Ending Final.

Now there are only 2 questions. How was the G-Man able to suspend Alyx without interfering with the timeline and what all this means going forward.I will start with the second question as it is much easier to answer-Gordon fell out of favor and now he and Eli are going against the G-Man to get Alyx back, something the G-Man might or might not anticipate. That's on Valve to write the story,we can only speculate.

And the first question,How did the G-Man make changes to the timeline without changing the timeline? He put Alyx into stasis 5 years before Half Life 2,yet we meet her during Half Life 2 to up to Ending 2.Now we are in speculation territory because it is impossible for the Alyx from 2 and episodes to be the same Alyx from the VR game without an external change from the G-Man.This can be done several different ways, but that's deep speculation which we just don't have enough evidence to unearth.

One possibility is that the young Alyx returns normally while the older Alyx from episode 2 is the one recruited by the G-Man.So Alyx would see her father get killed, then would change the future so he lives, but her future self would get recruited by the G-Man.The normal, young Alyx would then return to the normal world. This could explain how Eli Vance knows quite a bit about the G-Man by the time he talks about him in Episode 2 and how he knows that Gordon knows their "mutual friend" too.The biggest hitch is the dialogue and character behavior in Ending 2,which suggests no knowledge of events to come. This could be mitigated many different ways, but since no one really reads this far I won't bother hypothesizing further.

If anyone has read through all that, congratulations and thank you for reading my text.I'd love to hear your opinions below, what do you thing I got right, what doesn't really hold up or how you view these things.
