    And I was so very wrong. My god, this is possibly the most immersive shooter I've played in a while. I was told I needed to play the game like Gordan, not like Doomguy. I started checking corners and thinking about what my full arsenal could do for me. Playing on hard, the first vortigaunt encounter usually took me several reloads and tons of HP. This time, I checked my corners and anticipated ambushes with a double-pump to the face. I took virtually no damage, and it was exhilarating. Treating the enemies like they're just as strong as you are is a thrilling experience. Learning to use grenades to clear out unaware enemies, baiting them into natural hazards, keeping guards with me both to save their lives and have them fight with me... A guard and I took down a Bullsquid, and when it was done and he went "That was close"? That was incredible. The scripted and unscripted moments work so well. I finally realize that you had to BECOME Gordon, and play smarter, not run in guns blazing. I'm excited to keep playing, now.
