    I feel like the Combine in Half-Life 2 suffer from the same issue as FEAR 2's Replica Soldiers

    The Combine soldiers are actually pretty smart and well-made for squad tactics, even with the odd hiccup here and there. However, most maps aren't really well designed enough to take advantage of their AI, such as open city streets or tight corridors. They don't get to choose their paths, they are forced down a path. Instead of having a lot of cover objects and ways to maneuver, they have no option other than forward.

    A similar issue plagued FEAR 2. The Replica soldiers were forced onto linear paths instead of small multiplayer arenas like in FEAR and therefore they appeared dumber, even if they were using the same AI. Combat against the Combine soldiers could've been so much better if they actually had multiple options of assaulting you, like when you're on Highway 17 and come across their outposts. They have many options to engage you and it really makes the combat against them feel super dynamic and satisfying.

    If in half life the soldiers attacked the scientists, why in opposing force they don't attack the scientist?
