Did Half-Life 2: Lost Coast take place in the week of teleportation after Gordon and Alyx escape Nova Prospekt ?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:25 AM PST

What happened in Lost Coast reminds me of what happened at the end of Blue Shift when Barney is caught in a temporal harmonic reflux. It would explain Gordon sudden appearance in St. Olga and his sudden disappearance. Even the Fisherman comment it telling Gordon that he is getting "blurry around the edges". Lost Coast is a very good level and with this explanation it could be part of the canon without contradictions. If only Valve confirmed it.....

Playing through Black Mesa right now... what is my motive?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 10:23 PM PST

Clearly the ultimate motive is stopping the alien invasion, but how do any of Gordon's actions let him achieve that? We started off escaping from Black Mesa's innards, went through a crapload of HECU, a bunch of other sights and sounds, and now apparently we all know that our destination should be the Lambda complex for... what specific reason? Honestly, for how fun the game is (be it the remake or original), I never really understood how Gordon ever figured out what he was supposed to do. I feel like I'm just in a theme park amusement ride, going through whatever open doors I find and somehow I'm right where I need to be.

If I have never played Half Life before, is Black Mesa where I should start?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 10:02 AM PST

I have never played the series before and I'm interested in playing through both games and all of its episodes. I was wondering how faithful Black Mesa is to the original / is it far enough in to early access where I could play the full game?

    Thank you for any insight!
