    Wallace Breen, who are you?

    Breen and "The Catastrophe at Black Mesa" that happened to occur.

    We live in chaos. Many millions have died. And the man in charge has nothing to say.

    The UN announced that Wallace Breen prevented human casualties on quite a considerable scale in surrendering to the invaders called "The Combine". Reporters of the newspaper "7 Days" -- the only publication in our city to still release on a daily basis -- have addressed Breen, his staff, and the UN's press service, but there has only been silence in answer.

    So then, what do we know?

    We know that Breen was running the "Black Mesa" research facility in the US at the time of the catastrophe which caused this cataclysm.

    We know that Breen was chosen not by parliament, nor by referendum, nor by public motion.

    And we know that in the rare televised speeches that Breen gave to us were only shallow banalities and self-interested declarations of his "duty towards humanity".

    We don't, unfortunately, know much more.

    Who is Breen? What was he doing on the day of the catastrophe at Black Mesa and what personal responsibility does he have for it? Who, and on what grounds, put him in charge? What is he planning? Is he even planning anything? Is he negotiating with the "Combine" or is he merely serving them?
