    Here’s how Humanity can beat the Combine.

    The Combine. An Extra-Dimensional Empire that likely spans countless worlds in it's home Universe. The Cosmic Superpower who outclass and outnumber Mankind in both weaponry and technology.

    But the Combine's power is not absolute. There exists cracks in their armour. Gaps in their knowledge.

    Humans developed In-Universe teleportation while the Combine failed, only having Universe-To-Universe portals. (Since Gordon and Alyx destroyed the Nova Prospekt prototype. It shows their weakness in that area.)

    But How do you defeat the Combine? The Universal Union?

    With Physics. Gordon's trusty old friend.

    So how can this be used as a weapon against the Combine?

    "In quantum field theory, a false vacuum is a hypothetical vacuum that is not actively decaying, but somewhat yet not entirely stable ("metastable"). It may last for a very long time in that state (a property known as metastability), and might eventually move to a more stable state, an event known as false vacuum decay or vacuum metastability event.     "A number of theories suggest that cosmic inflation may be an effect of a false vacuum decaying into the true vacuum. The inflation itself may be the consequence of the Higgs field trapped in a false vacuum state with Higgs self-coupling λ and its βλfunction very close to zero at the planck scale. A future electron-positron collider would be able to provide the precise measurements of the top quark needed for such calculations."

    "If particle collisions produce mini black holes then energetic collisions such as the ones produced in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) could trigger such a vacuum decay event. a scenario which has attracted the attention of the news media. It is likely to be unrealistic, because if such mini black holes can be created in collisions, they would also be created in the much more energetic collisions of cosmic radiation particles with planetary surfaces or during the early life of the universe as tentative primordial black holes. Hut and Rees note that, because cosmic ray collisions have been observed at much higher energies than those produced in terrestrial particle accelerators, these experiments should not, at least for the foreseeable future, pose a threat to our current vacuum. Particle accelerators have reached energies of only approximately eight tera electron volts (8×1012 eV). Cosmic ray collisions have been observed at and beyond energies of 5×1019 eV, six million times more powerful – the so-called Greisen–Zatsepin–Kuzmin limit."

    "John Leslie has argued that if present trends continue, particle accelerators will exceed the energy given off in naturally occurring cosmic ray collisions by the year 2150."

    That's how Humanity can win.

    You weaponize a particle accelerator to deliberately induce a false vacuum decay.

    You utilise the technology Aperture Science created on the Borealis to transport such a structure to the Combine Overworld.

    Then you press the button, destabilise the Combine's Universe and let the laws of physics tear them apart in the most absolute act of mass destruction possible.

    What could be a more fitting end? To end the nightmare with the same kind of technology that started it all.

    The Resonance Cascade. Xen. The 7 Hour War. The Uprising. All of the struggle and insurmountable odds finally culminating in Earth's liberation and the Combine's utter destruction.

    Annihilation of their entire home Universe has to be enough to collapse an entity such as the Combine even if dimensional stragglers survive.

    Like defeating the Roman Empire by deleting all of Italy from existence. Destroying the Combine Overworld's entire Universe would fracture, balkanise and isolate any other surviving Combine forces in Extra-Universal locations like Xen and our own.

    This would give the locals in these universes a fighting chance, actual hope of winning. reducing their fights back down to a planetary scale as opposed to a universal sized one.

    Like Dr Kleiner said:

    "In short, the Combine are completely cut off. Combine forces currently stationed on Earth are now isolated units. Stranded."

    Striking a figurative crowbar straight into the face of the Combine and just like the franchise's atomic namesake. Through an act of literal "Decay."

    Poetic.

    After what the Combine did to Humanity. Both Population and Planet slaughtered, harvested and repurposed with brutality under the Combine's rule. Billions of people already dead.

    No-one would hesitate to set off that doomsday machine if it meant they could have Freedom again. Especially if its a universe full of Grubs and Synths.

    Then, almost as quickly as it began on that fateful day in Anomalous Materials. It would be over at last.

    The impossible victory would come to fruition. Gordon Freeman would finally rest and have that beer Barney owed him.

    Is the sdk for half life alyx still coming out?

    It's been a year now and I know that they have the workshop stuff but the sdk allows for a lot more freedom. Is there any hope for it coming soon or news that I might've missed?
