A brief explanation of the half life timeline, showing how Gordon Freeman has had an absolutely awful week.

Day 1: wakes up late for work, probably skipped breakfast. Causes (indirectly) an alien invasion. Worms his way through a collapsing research base full of hostile aliens and an army that wants him and everyone he works with dead. Finds out he has to cross the ENTIRE base to reach the lambda complex and fix this shit Finally finds a tunnel to the surface come day break after hours of traversing just to get knocked out by two grunts and thrown into a garbage crusher.

Day 2: gets all his cool (stolen) government issue equipment stolen and left for dead. Has to go through a waste management plant (that HEV suit must STINK) and ends up in a secret lab where the army sets a trap for themselves/him. Finally gets to the surface proper just to find out it's a war zone controlled by a military that wants him dead. Just for that military to end up getting its ass kicked by the aliens. Watches his last sunset for 20 years as he enters the lambda complex and fights through just to find out he has to single-handedly end the invasion by literally travelling dimensions and killing what many could consider to be a god.

Day 3(? Hard to tell as you don't really have a time frame for Xen): enters a portal to Xen and sees some sexy sights. Works his way to the big alien tower in a world where even the trees want to kill him, and ends up waking a ballsack with legs. Kills the ballsack and reaches the base of the alien tower where the fact he has to climb this thing finally dawns on him. After multiple lifts, jumps and body hugging grunts freeman finally reaches the top and manages to kill the God of Xen that looks like a fetus, just for some prick in a suit to phase into existence, steal his (sexy) guns, and force him into employment.

Day 4: freeman wakes up magically on a train in Europe somewhere just to find out that 20 years have magically passed, AND the twat in the suit never gave him back the sexy gluon gun :( makes his way through some streets to find out that sex is now pointless, fashion has been destroyed, and that Barney Coulhorn still owes him a beer, before finding out some alien empire has captured the earth and wants him dead for being a miscount. Gets saved by Alyx, the previously infant daughter of his old work colleague Eli Vance who is now of legal age, gets his beautiful suit back from his homeboy Kleiner (which is upgraded with a flashlight that runs on breath for some reason) and attempts to teleport to a place with a functional cafeteria, just for a face jumper to not only fuck it up, but also conveniently inform Gordon's old boss he is still alive. Now Gordon has too "sneak" through old canals, committing mass murder of people working the policing shift for extra rations, to get a fan boat and reunite with his friend Eli. Now when you think Gordon would FINALLY get a chance to put his feet up and grab a sandwich, the combine aliens have tracked him, kidnapped his homie Eli, AND force him to go through an old town called ravenholme full of zombies, headcrabs and religious scripture. Luckily Alyx gives him a tool to help defy the laws of gravity, but for someone who's been going 4 days straight this means little.

Day 5: after finally crawling out of that shithole ravenholme, Gordon finally catches a break when (best girl) Alyx tells some resistance fellows to give him a buggy with a (sexy) tau cannon equipped so he doesn't have to hoof it 50 miles to save the homeboy Eli. Gordon sets off along the coast, realising that thanks to the combine, the sea no longer has edible fish so Gordon's STILL working on an empty stomach. Spending the entire day travelling on fried up seabed, cracked roads, and doing parkour under a bridge. Gordon finally reaches a lighthouse where those twats the combine steal his buggy, and more importantly, all the SMG ammo, meaning Gordon's gotta hoof it yet again. After hopping on some barrels to cross a beach, Gordon meets another resistance camp, who decide to throw our boy a bone and give him an antlion testicle. Which when squeezed, make antlion a do our bidding. Now that Gordon has an army, he turns a corner and is finally at the prison the buddy Eli is held. Leading his mighty army of 4 antlions on a rampage through the facility, he meets back up with Alyx, finds out some woman he only just met last night was a traitor, and watches as his BFF Eli is teleported to parts unknown. Seeing the combine finally realise that this theoretical physicist is kicking ass and that the need to bring in the big guns, Gordon and Alyx steal their teleported just as the SAS wanna-he's storm the room and head back to Kleiner.

Day 6 (for Gordon anyway): Gordon and Alyx arrive back at Kleiner Gaff, just to find out a week has past in seconds (but considering Gordon already missed 20 years, what's another week to him?) and that the citizens of the City 17 want sex to be meaningful again, so war has broken out. While Alyx fucks off somewhere, Gordon (who really needs some sleep and a sandwich by this point I'm betting) has to lead the angry peasants to the citadel keep, to overthrow the aliens and secure the right to procrastinate once again. Meeting Barney on the way, Gordon helps take over the combine nexus and destroys a plethora of war of the worlds rip-off tripods, before jumping down a hole alone to scale yet another tower. Upon entering a tower, a device vaporises all his cool plundered weaponry, including the holy crowbar, but makes his extendable arm gun even stronger now, capable of flinging soldiers like baseballs. Ascending yet another tower (which isn't really that special when you realise he just did this 3 days ago), Gordon reaches the top to reunite with the Vance clan, and come face to face with his old boss, who tells him that Gordon owes 20 years worth of overtime as he never handed in his notice. Breaking free from his shackles thanks to that woman he doesn't know who is actually not a traitor offer all, Gordon runs after his boss to renegotiate a better deal to pay back the employment debt, just to find out his boss is attempting to teleport away. Deciding to stop his panicked boss and calm him down, Gordon shoots some energy balls into the portal, inadvertently killing his boss AND causing the tower to explode. However "luckily" the year with a tie reappears and tells Gordon to prepare for another timeskip, as he has managed to fuck up his second alien force in 3 days, and his talents will be needed again when gaben can be bothered.

Day 7 (episode 1): luckily for Gordon, before the smartly suited twat with a speech impediment can punch Gordon forward in time again, the vortigaunt friends that Gordon made on his journey, thank Gordon for not killing them in black Mesa by pulling back into the world. Waking up with Alyx at the base of the tower, our hero's find out they have to buy the people of the city 17 time to evacuate before the tower blows up, by going INTO the tower and putting a coat over the power Core. After doing so and surviving a train crash, Gordon and Alyx meet up with Barney, who still owes Gordon a beer, but makes up for it by returning to us a holy crowbar. In order to escape the doomed city, Gordon has to clear out a train station, fighting yet another tripod whilst doing so, just to watch as Barney sets off on a train without him, escaping with his beer debt still withstanding. Thankfully however Alyx has found another train, and upon boarding that and departing, Gordon realised he was too slow, as the citadel tower decides now is the best time to explode and the shockwave derails the train.

Day 7 (episode 2): somehow surviving another train crash, Gordon and Alyx wake up and see the tower explosion has opened a portal for the combine to call backup because they just can't manage against a lone physicist on their own. Realising Gordon's pockets were loose and that he's lost all his cool shit (again), Alyx takes the lead with nothing but a handgun and gets impaled by an infant tripod. Thanks however to a friendly Vortigaunt, Gordon finds out he can save the best, and only girl of his life, by going into some dark dank antlion caves and grabbing some infant slime. Doing so, he murders a colony of antlions attempting to reclaim their property while the vortigaunts heal Alyx, just for the greasy haired business man to reappear and whisper to Alyx a message for her dad. Reaching the surface, Gordon and Alyx kill some stuff, and find a vintage 1969 Dodge Charger RT that for some reason is in Europe despite being an American motor, and use that to reach a base called white forest, where the homies Eli, Kleiner, and some prick called Magnusson tell us that we owe Magnusson a casserole and that the woman who didn't betray us, needs our help to catch a boat in the artic. However before we can board a helicopter to get there, tripods approach, so gordon takes his arm extended and vintage 1969 Dodge Charger RT out into the wilds to fling explosive footballs at the tripods before they approach the base with a functioning cafeteria and water fountain. Upon doing so, Gordon gets to watch someone ELSE do something for a change and witnesses his scientist colleagues launch a rocket that closes the portal. Now ready to set off to the frozen tundra, Alyx tells her father the message entrusted to her by the greasy haired business man. Visibly shocked, Eli decides to tell us some stuff while en route to the transport helicopter, just for an alien jellybean to burst through the window, and magically die whilst Alyx fades from existence.

What happens next? Does Gordon finally get a hot meal? God knows he deserves it. The poor fellow has been toppling alien overlords for a week straight and just as he has hopefully about to get some downtime for a nap in the helicopter, timelines seem to converge. However the tale continues, let's just Gordon gets some downtime huh?

(Wrote all this up as I was bored. Took me... not too long to do tbh. But any spelling mistakes and whatnot I'll probably fix one day :))
