    Crowbar distribution theory (spoilers for Half Life 1, 2, Blue Shift, Episode 1)

    A crowbar was first picked up by Gordon Freeman in Sector C Laboratories in Unforeseen Consequences. Gordon's crowbar along with his other weapons were scattered around by the marines after he was captured in Apprehension. Right after the marines leave the room with the medkit trap and yeet Gordon's crowbar somewhere rather, Walter finds it and brings it back to the building where Rosenburg was working on the teleporter, meaning that the last section of Apprehension and Rosenburg's lab were very close together. Walter also tells Barney that he saw some marines throw the crowbar before dragging Gordon away so Barney knows what happened. Walter uses Gordon's original crowbar to break open the fence gate so that their SUV can go through and escape Black Mesa. While Walter is doing this Barney has his harmonic reflux moment and sees the marines drag Gordon away. The crowbar Gordon finds after escaping the trash compactor is different from the original one. He uses this until it is confiscated by the G-Man after Nihilanth is defeated. Over the years, Barney is able to keep Gordon's crowbar and the one he found at the beginning of Blue Shift. At the beginning of Half Life 2, Barney gives Gordon the crowbar he lost at apprehension. Gordon loses it in the Citadel so in Episode 1 Barney gives Gordon the one from the beginning of Blue Shift.

    TL;DR I think the crowbar Walter used at the end of Blue Shift was the one Gordon used until Apprehension, and the crowbar in the trash compactor was different. The crowbar from Episode 1 is the same crowbar Barney used in Blue Shift. Total crowbars: 3.
