I did it boys. I collected every barrel in Black Mesa East. (I would have brought them through ravenholm but it would have taken way too much time)

    Technical Half-life 2 issues

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 08:58 PM PDT

I need help with half life 2, the game has NO SOUND at all after one of those screenshare things steam can do. It's been a month or two of me just trying to fix the issue and nothing has worked at all, maybe someone here can help out?

Does anyone else think hl2 had more than hla?

    Posted: 21 Jul 2020 08:46 PM PDT

To me hla just felt kinda... empty, in comparison to hl2.

Hl2 introduced the world conquered by the combine, had a detailed and large story, created most of what we know about the world, introduced many characters throughout the game, had lots of variety with locations, enemies and gameplay changes, and had tons of small details.

When I played, I felt hla lacked most of this. Instead of an introduction to a new world, we're back in city 17 with the combine that we all know of, which was completely expected, but I feel it makes it immediately less interesting. The story is fairly simple and doesn't add much to the world, most we already know from hl2, and there are only a handful of characters that don't really develop much. There are far fewer enemies than in hl2, most of the locations look very similar as it's all set in a single district of the city, and small details like interacting with citizens and the combine at the start of hl2 aren't present. Most of it felt like it would fit into something like four chapters midway through hl2.

I'm not saying that hla is bad, it's a very good and revolutionary game that I enjoyed a lot, but it has many limitations due to being the first big vr game and pioneering the platform. Even though it may be more technologically revolutionary than hl2, I enjoyed hl2 more, and I think it is a much larger and more original game.
