    First time Playthrough - What version should I play, and what mods?

    Picked up the half life collection and half life alyx on the steam Halloween sale.

    ​

    It looks like the general sentiment is that I should play half life 1 first and then black mesa

    and half life source should be basically ignored.

    I haven't seen any mentions about half life: absolute zero for a first playthrough.

    Should I do absolute zero, and skip half life 1, then do blue shift and opposing force?

    Also, are there any popular graphics mods that everyone generally recommends?
