I know this has been said many times before, but XEN is absolutely BREATHTAKING.

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 08:32 PM PST

The only time I've played Black Mesa was when it first came out as a mod. Took off work to play it the first day it released (which was like what, 4-5 years ago?) and was so incredibly impressed. The voice acting needed help, which is fixed now in the actual release, but everything else was amazing. So I dove into the Beta now that xen was "completed" and have been playing it through again. Kinda forgot how long the game was and was trying to beat it in a day, which didn't actually work out like that lol... When I finally got there, my jaw dropped and I had a HUGE smile on my face. Now to preface this, I've been avoiding any videos on the topic. I've seen screenshots here and there but didn't want to spoil it and I'm so glad I did. So many times I just had to stop and watch the flying AI or the light rays or the amazing soundtrack. The puzzles, level design, the art within the levels are so well done. I just want to give props to the devs because this really is a AAA masterpiece! No wonder it took so long because it's so polished and so well thought out.

I also love the little touches on the new enemies like especially the zombie HEV guys that when you kill them, you get the iconic death noise. I'm so glad Valve let them sell this game, because it truly is a great remake and they deserve the revenue. Great job you guys!

Going to make a Half Life 2 small level for fun, does anyone have some tips for smooth/fun gameplay?

Wanted to make a Half Life level as I was in the mood and wanted to try something other then CSGO maps since I never get the detailing part done after getting a nice level flow. Does anyone have some important details to include so that it's not boring? Thanks

    We FOUND IT

I'm pretty sure that BioShock has a reference to Half Life in it. Atlas (fontaine) say "find a crowbar or something" to Jack. Considering they're both silent fps protagonists that had games released in the same year I wouldn't be surprised if the people over at 2K games might have made a reference.

A pretty well done upscale mod compared to other HL1 upscale mods. Just giving a heads up to this neato mod.

Could the Combine modifications be reversed?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2019 12:07 PM PST

What's sad about fighting Combines in Half-Life, is that we're actually fighting ourselves. Humans captured and modified to become soldiers, stalkers, and who knows what else? But could the modifications be reversed?

Of course if you're lookin' at Stalkers, it's gonna be pretty hard to restore them due to not having hands or feet, but of how advanced Combine technology is, there could be a way to "Darth Vader" those Stalkers up with mechanical legs and arms that aren't just sticks.

The soldiers themselves should be a little easier to restore due to only their vital organs being replaced. But if vital organs can be replaced, then there could be a way to restore it - just do the same thing but in reverse!

Of course it'll be more complicated than that. Kleiner, Magnusson, and other scientists would have to really to do their research. Unless there's a scientist out there that's already been trying to find a cure for the Combine mutation.

We don't really know how much of the human body was changed during the surgical process, so we dunno how difficult it would be. Valve would hafta make something up. There's gotta be some way to restore these humans.
