    This community might not need as much convincing as some others, but there seems to be this mentality: "I'm excited about half life alyx. And maybe if this does well we'll get a real half life three!".

    Guys... for those of you who feel this way, please don't view this game as a stepping stone to something better.

    We became so fixated on the number 3 that anything not called literally "half life 3" is viewed as a side project to us.

    I never really wanted "half life 3", i wanted a new half life game. Yes, i assumed it would be called half life 3, but just because its called something different doesn't change anything to me. Sure i'd like to see how that story ended, but that was minor to me. I more wanted to play more half life. We already got the original story ending from the writer. thats enough for me.

    When we changed from "when half life episode 3" to "when half life 3", my expectation turned to a NEXT GEN half life game. That's what i wanted. not an episode. a full fat big budget modern era half life game.

    This is it. If by some chance a new half life DOES come out in the next couple years, this was still the big reintroduction.

    Much like gta sanandres was a huge game and was a "next gen" gta game because it was in 3d, gta 3 was still the first one. the revolutionary one.

    Even if we get a half life 3, this was the first big next gen half life game.

    Show it that respect
