Spoilers for HL2 and EP2 and HLA

Right, so In Highway 17, If the scout car falls somewhere unaccessible (for example the water near the cliffs) the screen will go black and you'll get a message saying

"SUBJECT: FREEMAN

EVALUATION: TERMINATED

FAILED TO PRESERVE MISSION-CRITICAL PERSONNEL"

Clearly written by the GMan. And, Gordon fails to save Eli in EP2, and Eli would be considered "Mission Critical Personnel" right? And GMan eliminated Freeman when he loses Mission Critical Personnel. Also, in HLA, GMan says "This one has been unable...or unwilling...to perform the tasks laid before him." he then says he has been looking for a replacement for Gordon. So what that means? Gordon's dead. He's done. I think. That's iust my theory though.

hi, i'm having crashes in all my source games that came out of nowhere: one day they were all fine, the other not one of them can launch.

its always the same error: failed to create D3D device.

now, i'm not a dumbass, i've researched how to fix it and tried. in fact, i have spent the whole week trying stuff and absolutely nothing has worked. i've even tried the official steam support for help but it was useless.

here is a list of all the methods i've tried and failed.

restarting my pc
updating drivers
rolling back drivers
changing resolution -launching with -autoconfig or -dxlevel 90 or -dxlevel 81
completely disabling my graphics card and reinstalling the drivers
forcing the game to run using the dedicated GPU
reinstalling the game
shuting down antivirus
running as admin

i KNOW my system can handle these games, i've been playing them for a decade. and nothing, i repeat, NOTHING changed between the day they were running and the day they were not. no updates, no new software, no new NOTHING.

i dont know were to look anymore, i've spent literal days searching and trying stuff to no avail, and honestly i just feel like giving up and throwing my WIP mods away at this point, because the only solution i can see is "get a new PC", wich is an impossibility.

Is that Gordon meets Chell. She could have a white/black HEV suit instead of Gordon's orange/black. Also, The front would have an Aperture Logo instead of a Resistance Logo. If they did that, Half-life 2 EP 3 would be AWESOME!
